heh thanks. yea, i knew i wasn't copying anything directly, it was more just the idea of the my concept not being original like i thought it was. I do want to learn modeling, but i think i will wait until after this comp. i have looked into blender before, just never got around to actually installing and learning it. hopefully my motivation doesn't take my typical nose dive when this map is done. :)

Pretty much have details wrapped up now, so figured i'd post another beta.

DL here:
desctf3_b6.pk3 (orig link also updated)

There is no clipping or bot support yet. I also need to try to improve vis more (if possible) as some spots can hit 30k tris. My system has no trouble running it tho, so i'd like to know how other's systems fare at it. As i said, the details are basically finished, barring some lighting tweaks and other finessing. I'll probably also still add a bit more detail to the MH area/underwater paths. Would appreciate any feedback. As always, i'm still open to suggestions. Hope you like :D.

Nice architecture, nice water everywhere, really like it :) BUT: I have some missing textures (on some >lianas<?).

Looking forward to play it with sounds :)

nm, fixed the vine texture. it was there but was using the wrong shader.

I couldn't hear any ambient sounds though?

heh, akm with the hawk eyes :D.

I've already fixed some of your points and will definately address the rest. I will also add some sounds, though they may end up being the same ones i used on Overgrowth due to time :\.

The dark patches may prove a problem however. They've been there for a while, and despite changes in lighting, they seem to persist, so i'm not sure how to solve it. I'm going to try a lower lightmapscale on those patches, but failing that, i'm not sure what to do. If anyone has some solutions to fix it, i'd appreciated it.

Just about finished. RC1 is ready. DL here: Desctf3_RC1.pk3

I've added sounds, clipping, and bot support. The bots actually play fairly well, but i'm going to see if i can improve that further still. There are a couple errors in this RC that i've already fixed (the missing railing by quad, and bots getting stuck at spawn low spawn by the jumppad in mid) Otherwise, all i've left on my todo list is to make location names, a levelshot, to name the damn map, and a bit more texture work (teleporter is WIP still, and i want to replace the skybox). I'd appreciate any feedback on anything else. Thanks

One thing maybe (just my impression): I cannot see sock's rock texture anymore. Exchanging won't be an act I guess...
Don't have time to testplay it, cause of my own map... (I have much more on my todolist :/)

Thanks again akm. Dunno how you spot so much so quick :).

This should be the last RC. I feel satisfied with how everything is now. Barring any glaring issues, I'll just add a little more polish on some textures and, if time, a new skybox. There are some odd VIS issues that i can't seem to solve, but they don't seem to hurt performance too much so i'll just leave it. Bots were working, but the extra detail broke them again. It took building a botmap again to get them back in (ugh). The bots seem a little dumber than before, but they still play it fairly well, so i don't think i will bother trying to tweak the aas. Finally decided on a name as well, "Lost Paradise". Seemed like it would be an overused name, but i wasn't able to find another map that uses it. So mine it is :).
