I usually hang over at Quake 3 World

I've been thinking about entering for a while and now and since _the_ beta is over, I can actually see myself spending some time crafting a level for this contest.

I will not create much new graphics for this level - I sit on a ton of unused and unreleased textures and models I've created. I might as well use those... I think it would take just too long creating a new theme I never done before, to the extent that I'm satisfied with it...

I'm gonna start drawing a layout and building soon, should have something ready to show this weekend... not a "level" but a start layout plan and perhaps some radiant construction tests too!

That jump's pretty hard to do from the lower side, I will probably make it easier as it goes to make sure there's a flow...
Although, I like "hard" parts like that.

What I drew on paper was a FFA8 level, that was before I knew that I could make a 1v1 level. So now I'm changing my initial thought train from FFA into a 1v1, but as always I want my 1v1s to work well in 2v2.

There will ofc be more rooms! I hope to be able to shape out a layout sometimes this week, perhaps!

Haven't had as much time last week as I wanted.
I have done more than lowering the stairs to about 50% and made them square-ish, but this will do for now.

edit: I missed one day as it seems with the eyefinity end, guess it doesn't matter that much...

and yeah that lava is a killer :)

I musk ask though. How did you setup the more yellow parts of it? is it just decals or do you have some advanced shader that recognizes that the lava is close to an edge?

Sure, but it's just a test shader I threw up. It will probably look different later... or not.
Goth, as far as I know, you can't do that inside Q3. Which is a shame, would have been a great feature.
